Rikta Rätt, Information on Inverters for Connection to the Swedish Low Voltage Grid

The Swedish Electricity Act requires distribution system operators (DSOs) to ensure that equipment to be connected to their networks does not jeopardise operational reliability or security of supply. The Rikta Rätt pre  assessment list was established as a means of providing a coordinated assessment of the general requirements that must be met for connection to the Swedish low-voltage grid.

Rikta Rätt 2.0

Following a review in 2026, changes will be introduced during 2027 to adapt Rikta Rätt to the growing range of products currently available on the market compared with when the service was first launched. Instead of providing a list of pre-assessed inverters for solar PV and energy storage installations, a database containing standardized and structured information about the inverters will be made available.

DSOs will then make their own assessments as to whether connection can be permitted, supported by industry guidelines provided by Swedenergy (Energiföretagen Sverige) containing recommended requirements.

Unlike Rikta Rätt 1.0, where only equipment that met the requirements during the pre-assessment was listed, the database will include all equipment for which basic product identification information (manufacturer and type designation) is available. The DSO will then determine whether the available information is sufficient to permit connection. If information is missing, supplementary information can be submitted to Rikta Rätt, making it available to other DSOs as well.

The change will give DSOs greater scope to adapt their assessments to the actual requirements at the point of connection. At the same time, manufacturers and importers will have an opportunity to distinguish themselves from competitors through the certificates, declarations and other information they choose to submit for inclusion in Rikta Rätt.

To ensure a smooth transition, products will be listed in both the old and new versions of Rikta Rätt for a period of time. The option to list products in Rikta Rätt 2.0 will open at the turn of 2026/2027 and will become mandatory in conjunction with listing in the current Rikta Rätt, Rikta Rätt 1.0, from Q2 2027. From September 2027, new listings in Rikta Rätt 1.0 will cease, and its .CSV version will subsequently be unpublished at the turn of 2027/2028.

The application format for Rikta Rätt 2.0, the data format in which the database will be provided (.xml), and a test dataset will be presented during November 2026. Industry guidelines prepared by Energiföretagen Sverige's Rikta Rätt working group will also be provided, including recommendations on which information in the Rikta Rätt 2.0 database DSOs should regard as necessary for permitting a connection.

Rikta Rätt 1.0 will be maintained until September 2027. However, as previously communicated when the 2026 review of Rikta Rätt was initiated, Rikta Rätt 1.0 is not fully adapted to energy storage systems and bidirectional electric vehicle charging. DSOs are therefore advised to exercise additional caution when applying Rikta Rätt 1.0 to these types of equipment.

As before, Rikta Rätt has no legal status and is not mandatory for DSOs, manufacturers or installers.

Legal status

Inclusion on the Rikta Rätt list is not a prerequisite for an inverter to be connected to the electricity grid. The list is intended solely as a support tool to simplify administration relating to grid connection, both for installation owners and DSOs.

The inclusion of an inverter on the Rikta Rätt list does not constitute formal approval of the inverter. DSOs may always require the party requesting connection to provide documentation demonstrating that all requirements have been met.

We would also like to clarify that the pre-assessment carried out within Rikta Rätt consists solely of a review of the submitted documentation and certificates. We do not verify the information against results in test reports, nor do we conduct our own tests of the equipment under review, including on a sample basis. The assessment also verifies that installations can be configured correctly, not that they have actually been configured correctly.

The Swedish Electrical Safety Authority (Elsäkerhetsverket) carries out ongoing market surveillance of products and may impose sales bans. See information on the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority's website:   Elsäkerhetsverket – försäljningsförbud. The Rikta Rätt list does not contain information about the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority's product surveillance or any sales bans, although we endeavor to remove products subject to sales bans from the list.

Application to have equipment included on the Rikta Rätt 1.0 pre-assessment list

Manufacturers, wholesalers, importers, and installers are primarily invited to contact Energiföretagen in Swedish or English at riktaratt@energiforetagen.se to apply for inclusion of equipment to be included on the Rikta Rätt pre-assessment list. Applications, assessments, and any subsequent listing are free of charge and are currently financed by DSOs through their membership fees to Swedenergy (Energiföretagen Sverige).

See below for the documentation that must be included for solar PV inverters. For other types of equipment, equivalent aspects must also be addressed so that we can carry out an appropriate preliminary assessment of whether the equipment to be connected could jeopardise the DSO's operational or security supply. Please provide the documentation you consider appropriate, and we can continue the dialogue from there.

Our aim is to review applications received and publish a new version of the Rikta Rätt pre-assessment list every second Friday. Applications received are processed for publication with the aim of handling all applications submitted no later than the day before publication. However, complex cases may take considerably longer when we need to conduct further research, consult various parties and engage in dialogue with the applicant.

As a general recommendation for faster processing, please ensure that the documentation listed below is included, clearly specify the equipment you wish to have listed, and make sure that the documents submitted are valid for that equipment. You are also encouraged to state the manufacturer and type designation of the equipment you wish to have listed in the subject line, making it easier for all parties to follow the correspondence.

FFor solar PV inverters, two main sets of documentation are required:

  1. A completed application form and for for inverters >75 A, including Appendix 1. Please ensure that:
    a) The form is signed;  a printed or typed name alone is not sufficient.
    b) All fields are completed.
    c) All completed information is legible in the signed version of the documents.
    d) The specified settings and measured values correspond to the submitted certificates and documentation.
  2. Technical documentation supporting the information provided in the form, such as third‑party certification and test reports.

Certification are required to demonstrate that the product complies with the requirements of:
a) RfG (EU 2016/631) and/or EN 50549‑1.
b) The EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) and the standards for flicker and harmonics specified in the application form.
c) The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) (2014/35/EU); this declaration may be issued by the manufacturer.
